Activity Description

An orientation of the city which hosts high skyscrapers and the daily buzz of the city, followed by a visit to Soweto – home of historically significant sites of the struggle. Ending the day with Gold Reef City Theme Park & Museum which hosts the widest range of features and attractions in Africa and alive with excitement (closed Mondays & Tuesdays).

Soweto Orientation
Soweto is considered the biggest township in South Africa. It has been estimated that 40% of Johannesburg’s residents live in Soweto. However, the 2008 Census put its population at 1,3 million. Nelson Mandela lived in Soweto from 1946 until 1961.

Hector Pieterson Museum
The Hector Pieterson Museum, situated in Soweto, commemorate the role of the country’s students in the struggle against apartheid. The commemorative site is just a few blocks from where 12-year-old Hector Pieterson was shot in 1976.

Gold Reef City Theme Park
Gold Reef City is a large amusement park in Johannesburg. There are many attractions at Gold Reef City like water rides and roller coasters. Adrenaline junkies will enjoy the thrill rides such as Anaconda or Jozi Express but there are also plenty of rides for those a little less brave! (closed Mondays & Tuesdays)

Der Tagesabschluss findet im Gold Reef City Theme Park & Museum statt, welches die größte Auswahl an Attraktionen in Afrika beherbergt (Montags und Dienstags geschlossen).

Soweto Orientierung
Soweto ist das größte Township in Südafrika. Es wird geschätzt, dass ca. 40% der Bevölkerung Johannesburgs in Soweto leben. 2008 ergab der Zensus eine Bevölkerung von 1,3 Millionen Menschen. Nelson Mandela lebte von 1946 bis 1961 in Soweto.

Hector Pieterson Museum
Das Hector Pieterson Museum befindet sich in Soweto und erinnert an die Rolle der Schüler des Landes im Kampf gegen die Apartheid. Das Denkmal befindet sich nur ein paar Straßen entfernt von der Stelle, wo Hector Pieterson 1976 erschossen wurde.

Gold Reef City Theme Park
Gold Reef City ist ein großer Freizeitpark in Johannesburg. In diesem Park befinden sich vieerlei Attraktionen wie Wasser- oder Achterbahnen. Adrenalinjunkies werden mit Fahrgeschäften wie der “Anaconda” oder dem “Jozi Express” auf Ihre Kosten kommen, es gibt allerdings auch eine Vielzahl an Fahrten für die weniger Mutigen Gäste (Montags und Dienstags geschlossen)!
