Big Cats raised in captivity cannot be released into the wild. LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary, by FOUR PAWS, provides an appropriate, lifelong home for Big Cats that were kept in inadequate conditions in zoos, circuses, or private captivity. The habitat, constructed for our Big Cats, offers large areas for family groups, facilitation of natural behaviour through enrichment and, the highest standards of medical care, as well as, maximum security standards for the enclosures.
After your check-in at reception and pre-tour video, your 1 1/2 Hour Guided journey into our Sanctuary begins!
Meet some of our regal Big Cats, including a stop at our Special Care Unit, Leopard & Tiger enclosures, and don’t forget to look out for our free roaming wildlife who also call LIONSROCK home. Gain in-depth knowledge about the struggles and victories of our Big Cats. We may not all be the same, but our desire to live is no different!
In addition to your sanctuary tour, we also have an on-site Restaurant, kiddies playground area, and pool.
Please note that should you wish to use the pool, this at our discretion and, at your own risk as there are no lifeguards on duty. No children are allowed in the pool area without adult supervision.

An absolutely magical experience. Love the work the sanctuary is doing especially for the rehabilitation of animals who need the love and care they so need and deserve. Friendly and learned staff from the person at the front desk to the guides. Hats off to the team. Will be back soon guaranteed. - Daniels
We had a great time with my boyfriend - Lerato
Amazing, heartfelt experience. - Louise
It is a beautiful place, the cages are secured, so you do feel safe. You can see the animals are well taken care of.The lounge is also very beautiful. The people are very welcoming and friendly. The only problem is the gravel road to the sanctuary,it is a challenge if the vehicle is not designed for the type of road. The cages are big and spacious so the animals do have space. When you get in you will see the security is very strict and secured. When driving to the lounge you can enjoy the view such as the bucks and other animals . Overall l will give them a 10/10 ? ? - Makabelo
Good day. The sanctuary drive was very informative. Our tour guide, Peter was so accommodating. He was enthusiastic and told us stories about the animals that we won't forget. Overall we had a great experience. Our children are more appreciative of the animals in the wild. However, we were slightly disappointed that we were not able to see the feeding of the animals as we went on the wrong day. Maybe more advertising could be done in this regard. A good experience overall. Will be back to check out the feeding? Thank you once again. Randall - Randell
