Activity Description

A little more time and energy is well spent on this half-day ride. Enjoy a half-day Horse Trail and Wine Tasting on horseback and Michelle’s choice of Winery, in South Africa’s most celebrated Franschhoek wine valley. A unique way to explore the area, this adventurous trail takes you through the working farm and vineyards, climbing up into the mountainous area ending up at our spectacular viewpoint. From there we make our way back down for wine tasting at one of our acclaimed Wine Estates. One or two tastings can be arranged on this ride, but we do prefer to spend more time in the saddle however. We will contact you for your chosen preference before the ride. Our expert guides adjust the group’s pace according to your riding experience and skill, always considering horse and rider safety.

Whether you are an experienced rider wanting a fast and exhilarating canter down open farm tracks and mountain passes, or just a novice wanting a relaxing meander on a steady horse to get a different perspective of the magnificent scenery, you will have a great experience. We take care in pairing the most suitable horse to the rider’s skill level to ensure you have a comfortable ride guaranteed to leave you invigorated.

Want to mark a special occasion? Whether it’s a marriage proposal, corporate team building or just a group of friends wanting a different kind of day out, we’ll put together a memorable day ride set against the magnificent Great Drakenstein Mountains and full of local flavour. Day rides make a great birthday gift too!

We recommend setting your arrival time (on Google Maps) for 40min prior to your booking time starting, which should give you the longest time it will take. Please be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before your time slot begins to ensure your indemnity is completed and you receive the safety briefing.

Any riders arriving late will forfeit time out of their booking. A minimum of 2 riders is required for a ride to go out. Group size limited to 15 riders. For larger parties, please contact us so we can accommodate your needs. No under 8’s on horses. This service is weather dependent. All of our trails are led by experienced guides, ensuring a safe and memorable experience. We are conscious about the environment, we respect nature and adhere to strict operating guidelines to protect the amazing space we operate in.

We do not allow any rider over 95kg on a horse, or any rider over 110kg on a quad bike, and reserve the right to put a rider on a scale should we feel that they are over the weight limit. If you are over the weight limit when making the booking you will not be liable for a refund.

The Horse Drawn Carriage is a great option for persons over 100kg, but we do need to be notified in advance to ensure there is space on our carriage.

All riders are required to wear a helmet. Helmets are tight fitting; please note that wigs or extensions can cause the helmets to not fit. Therefore, we request that all riders have their hair in a practical hairstyle when coming for horse or quad bike riding as no one will be allowed out without a helmet. If you have any concerns about the above restriction, we recommend booking a carriage ride and/or a glamorous photoshoot instead.

Customer Reviews

We had the best time with Michelle! The beautiful day began with riding great horses - not treading, stable-type horses but horses with personalities. The country that Michelle took us through was stunning! And then the wine tasting! Michelle is quite the expert on wines and taught us about different ways to taste wine - especially the aromas. One in our group said, "This really was the best horse-riding experience I ever had". I have already recommended doing this ride to multiple people on our trip. I hope they do it and have as wonderful a time as we had! - Virginia

What a fabulous experience. We chose the 2 hour ride with the wine tasting and it was fantastic. Chantelle was a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable about the area and really fun to be with. The horses are top quality; responsive, well behaved and in extremely good condition. The route we took involved lots of different types of terrain and was scenically beautiful. The wine tasting was fun, and although we tasted 6 different wines, and we were able to ride back to the main yard without any problems! I would thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone, whether experienced or novice rider. - Mrs

We had a wonderful Fife with very good horses and lovely guides. The wine tasting was very enjoyable too. I'd thoroughly recommend it to any level of rider - Hilary

Great fun! Felt always safe. Had two guides for our small group. Nice combination with wine tasting. Scenic views. Value for money. - Susanne
